[s-cars] silver paint - claying question

Is using a clay bar more aggressive than a paintwork cleanser, or, for that
matter, more or less aggressive than using a fine cut compound? What
products become *not* clearcoat safe? methinks a rubbing compound could
easily remove a clearcoat.

Stefan: Not knowing the extent of the "Cloudiness" in your paint, I
would suggest starting with a good cleaner wax like Zymol Cleaner wax.
If that is not the answer, then try something a little more aggressive,
i.e. P21S Paintwork Cleanser followed by 3M Swirl Mark Remover for light
colored cars {3M offers this product in two versions, one for Dark
colored and one for Light} and then a good pure wax. Both of these
products are Clearcoat safe. And, finally, if necessary, you can try 3M
Fine Cut Rubbing Compound followed by Swirl Mark Remover and wax. The
Swirl Mark Remover and the Rubbing Compound can be applied by hand or
machine. Obviously, a high speed machine will produce better results
with less elbow grease, but requires a high degree of experience in
order not to damage the Clearcoat.

shame on you, joe. are you going around feeling babies' asses
now? are you in training to be a catholic priest? :)

i wouldn't hesitate to try polishing compound (not rubbing compound)
to clean it up. don't forget to put some wax on it afterwards.
