The rear speakers are, get this, 1 Ohm, powered by the amp that sits betwee=
n the two rear speakers, mounted to the underside of the hat tray. The upg=
rade is easy enough, simply buy some quality 6x9 component speakers, an amp=
to power them, and use the leads going into the Bose amp. The signal sent=
to this amp is not powered, so the new amp/speakers are good to go.
6x9's will mount into the stock speaker mounts, once your melt the speaker =
covers to remove the bad speakers and replace with the new; then remelt the=
covers back into place.
If you replace the door speakers, re-use the bose wave guides for the front=
door speakers, but you will have to bypass the amps that are in the wavegu=
ides ... they are designed for 1 ohm speakers, so if you use them for a tra=
ditional 4 ohm or 8 ohm aftermarket door speaker, they will overheat and sh=
ut down ... not to mention, sound like crap.
