Hi all,

I'm in an urgent need of summer tires stock in Canada, either ECSTA MX
or Yok AVS 100. I can see the cords on the inner side of one of my front
tire. Oups! The other front tire is marginely better. To make a long
story short, in the spring I noticed the inner side of my front tires
had no thread left - my car is at stock ride height - after 40Kmiles but
I still had 2/3 of the thread center and outer side. So I got my car
aligned and was pretty amazed by the fact the mechanic correct the toe
to 0.01 of nominal values. The next two oil change, I noticed the inner
side of the tires looked worse than I remember. I just thought memory
forget thread depth, especially when there is no thread left.

Going back home this evening, I heard a weird noise from the driver side
wheel. I finally found the noise was coming from a 5" of cord slapping
the road. I couldn't believe it. First thing I though, what the heck
this guy have done with the alignement. Without thinking, I put the
wheel straight to check the alignement with my bare eyes. Could you
imagine checking the alignement without any tool? Yes! The toe out is
visible with bare eyes. No joke! Hopefully, the tireslasted the
snail-limp-mode 50 miles I had to drive with them. Now, the urS6 is in
the parking lot and I won't move it until the tires are changed. Not
even to cross the street. I had to wake up the 90Q20V. It have slept on
a parking lot for more than a year with a few occasional 1 mile trip to
the grocery. It's not in shape to become my daily driver, even for a
week.

So, at the end, I need new summer tires, really quick, like 1-2 days.
Means they have to be stock. And I don't know anyone who stocks ECSTA MX
or Yok AVS 100 in middle of september except big country-wide
distributor. I found, last year, a canadian equivalent to tirerack. I
forgot to add it in my favourites and Google doesn't give me any clue.

BTW, how much cost an laser-beam alignement computer. Mechanics get so
used to screw up everything on my cars I think I'll left the textile
industry and open a garage, just to justify the cost of all the tools I
need to do _everything_ myself on my cars.

Subject: [s-cars] URGENT - Summer tires advice

Hi all,

Now I have found at least 3 online sources of tire in Canada, I have
another problem. Rating of the sub-100$ summer tires vary a lot from a
site to another. 1010tires says Dunlop FM901 are great when tirerack
says they are scrap.

So here is my first selection:
586$CDN Kuhmo ECSTA 712 Already on my car, the handling is perfect for
my needs but confort is so-so on Quebec roads.
779$CDN Falken FK-451
652$CDN Dunlop FM901
717$CDN Sumi HTR+
735$CDN Yok AVS ES 100
I don't care about handling on snow as I have dedicated snow tires. Any
advice, BTDT? I need to make a choice by tomorrow morning.

TIA

Vincent

Hi all,

I forgot one thing in my last email. I got some clue from the list about
the ECSTA MX but I don=92t remember any comments about Yokohama AVS ES
100. TireRack customers give it the best note for the sub-100$ high
performance summer tire, even better the ECSTA MX. Does anyone have
tried these tires?

funny how my latest project always shows up on the

so I gather the head unit will send a line level
output to the Blose amps (I expect it did and thought
I've read this before). I'd really like to upgrade my
stuff but keep the head unit in place, just for a
  couple reasons:
  1. looks stock
  2. can keep the changer
  3. I hate the new displays on head units -- flashy and
  flat out ugly

So I'm just planning a new system and would like to

How does everyone program their intermittent wipers?

It seems to me that a setup using NO2 injection for the sole purpose
of quickly spooling up a big turbo before the boost comes on might
be worthwhile. It could be shut down when you've got enough
(or more than enough) regular O2 flowing from the turbo. That way
you could minimize the amount of NO2 needed. Unless, of course,
you expect to be doing this NO2 injection very often.
A progressive controller would be needed to ramp up the NO2
injection starting at lower engine RPMs to prevent detonation.

Such a setup wouldn't give you any more peak power, but it
would let you get to that peak power quicker when you really want it.

1. turn to first position
2. turn to off position
3. wait desired time 2-20 seconds
4. turn to first position

The interval should now be programmed.

Sorry, I didn't really want to pollute the atmosphere.
I meant the funny gas N2O, and not nitrogen dioxide NO2.

Vincent:

I've compared prices with the Tire Rack and local sources in Canada and
the Tirerack is significantly cheaper, up to $200 CAD for a set even
after paying for shipping, duty taxes, etc. I'm fortunate as I live 10
minutes from the Washington Border. I plan to purchase a set from the
Tirerack next spring and have them drop shipped to a local installer
state-side.
