The GT32 and GT35 turbos appear like they may have dual scroll
turbine housings, since the drawings I've seen show two openings
in the exhaust inlet flange. With 5 cylinders probably the only option
is to use it like it was a single scroll and feed the two openings with
all of the cylinders combined in the EM or header, just like we normally do.
But then you won't get the some of the claimed advantages of
dual scroll such as a somewhat lowered boost threshold, reduced
reversion through the exhaust valves, etc.
On the variable geometry turbos, a number of OEMs have been using
them for diesels. I've read that it's more challenging to get good
reliability at the higher exhaust temps in gasoline engines, but apparently
there's still a lot of work going on in this area.
