This is the first time I am hearing such a report in the 3 years I've been =
in the Stromung GP scene.
I think Taka and Scott have some useful ideas to check. What is the condit=
ion of the gaskets at the 4 mating surfaces? (DP to turbo, wastegate pipe t=
o WG, DP to center, center section to rear muffler)
Stromung does report that the stainless steel will expand (hot) and contrac=
t (cold) to some degree. Given that, chassis clearance becomes really impor=
tant.
Best way to set it up is on a lift, loosen all bolts and adjust it so there=
is not chassis interference. Some installers place a temporary shim to ret=
ain a fixed position down the length of the system.
(Remember the hangers are flat stainless steel and can be bent slightly to =
adjust the Up/Down location of the rear sections. )
Then starting from front to back tighten each bolt gradually. Snug each bol=
t initially then return for a final tightening sequence.

First, make sure the front heat shield is installed (between exhaust and
driveshaft). This is a common problem with big exhausts that are close to
spinning driveshafts. With all shields installed on an S car, haven't exper=
ienced it
yet, but had it all the time in my 5ktqw with 3in exhaust, and occasionally
with my urq as well.

Just a guess, but there could be a cracked weld that opens up
when you've got larger temperature differentials between portions
of the exhaust system (those areas splashed with water will be cooler
and therefore not expand as much).
You might want to check the weld attaching the small pipe going to
the wastegate. I recall that someone else on the list had a problem
there before.
