FWIW if the master cylinder shaft broke somewhere in the middle, you MAY
be able to just screw it together with one lengthy nut (if you could
find one long enough to join the two ends together) or two nuts welded
together.

I think Mike Platt did this fix and its still holding AFAIK.

My shaft broke at the base of the cylinder leaving no thread to screw on
to on one end.

Also, I did not think of it at the time but I later thought of
reinforcing the new but still cheeso/ flimsy shaft with additional nuts
from the clevis to the base of the master cylinder for additional
strength to never have this happen again.  It may be possible, but could
be difficult since 'supposedly' there is some exacting measurement for
the install.  But also; this measurement spec is impossible to achieve
IME.
