Might want to try cleaning the ISV with some brake cleaner for starters.
Just got through fighting the exact same situation as you. Car was usually
fine once fully warmed up but, while cold, would stall occasionally while
coasting to a stop in neutral. Soaked mine in brake cleaner for the better
part of 4 hours, applying 12 volts of power to activate the valve. Cost-$000
The other common stall problem may be due to a bad by-pass valve, btdt too.
Diaphram was completely torn. A new adjustable after-market unit solved
that. Cost-$125

Damn, should have finished reading my digests first...  anyway...  heh, you
called him "Bob".  Awesome.  More anyway, thought I'd offer feedback to your
suggestions, with hopes of finding the unlikely cure some day longlonng down
the longroad...

...Caveats to your thoughts:  mine also will stall upon exiting the highway
(after running it 'good') and coming to a stop.  Just shuts right down, and
I can always predict the 'once every other month or so' that it's about to
happen and just catch it w/ the throttle when braking / clutching.  So, it
does also happen when extremely hot...  er, and I have a new Forge BPV.
Though, hmmm, gots to think if the "hot" stall has happened since, don't
recall...  definitely the "coldashell" one once or twice though.

Food for thoughtlessness, keep the ideas flowing.  Someday, someone will
figure it out.
