I recently drove an S8, and it was DAMN nice.  Fast, great handling
(considering the bulk), and comfy.  Yeah, the automatic isn't a manual, but
it isn't that bad.  I am close to changing jobs, and will want an automatic
for the commute (I will keep the URS Avant however).  

Yesterday, while driving to UCLA, I got into a friendly hound and rabbit
chase on the 101 fwy with a NeuS6Avant.  Nice looking car, pretty fast, and
the driver WASN'T a di at k, which is unusual in these parts for neu Audi
drivers.  I haven't driven one, but will try to drive it soon.  Any
thoughts??>>>





I second that Gary.  Drove a client's //S8 last summer...  whoamomma Paulie
LIKE.  And the autoshitbox did not offend me.  If I were in position to keep
my UrS car AND have that (dreaming), I could live with the auto no prob.
Having it be the sole release (more like soul release?), maybe not, I'm not
mature enough for that (tried once w/ 300E, didn't work).  

Regarding the bulk you mention...  most noteworthy to me is the D2 chassis
simply is NOT all that much bigger than the C4.  While I've not parked them
side to side, when sitting in it, I swear it was no bigger inside than my
car now.  Maybe bigger on the outside and the L wheelbase cars may have more
foot room, but otherwise they're awfully close.  So size was it's a non
issue.  I should check the paper measurements for giggles (trunk, interior
width, etc. all seemed pretty darn f'n close if you ask my buttometer).

I unfortunately have yet to drive the C5 //S6 Avant...  agreed, look real
nice.  Other listers (owners) here have commented to the list that the
shitbox is NOT up to task, has a mind of it's own, etc.  If it compares to
that of which resided in the B5 //S4 (unacceptable) I'd worry.  Maybe there
will be trans chips for them (???).

Heh...  neu Audi owners = d*cks...  bwhahahaaaa...  hear that, say no more.
