[s-cars] A pillar boost gauge

Craig,
I have this gauge set-up. My pod is painted ecru to match my interior. The
gauge works well. I like having the gauge in this position, it's easy to
read.

I wrote about this once before and haven't figured out the problem. My
mechanic went through the car and found nothing wrong. However...it's
*still* smoking (intermittently).
Here are the symptoms.
The car must have been driven and parked, then driven again a couple of
hours later. On this second drive, if I start up, drive a bit and then idle
for 30-60 seconds or more, the car will smoke quite noticeably. It does not
smell like coolant. Instead, it smells just a bit like burnt or scalded oil.
If I rev the engine or put the engine under load, it will clear in about 15
seconds and not happen again. I'm running Mobil 1 10-30 oil and the car has
about 145K miles on it, stock engine.
Help! What could this be? Head gasket? Turbo seals? Demonic possession?
Thanks!

I recently drove an S8, and it was DAMN nice. Fast, great handling
(considering the bulk), and comfy. Yeah, the automatic isn't a manual, but
it isn't that bad. I am close to changing jobs, and will want an automatic
for the commute (I will keep the URS Avant however).
Yesterday, while driving to UCLA, I got into a friendly hound and rabbit
chase on the 101 fwy with a NeuS6Avant. Nice looking car, pretty fast, and
the driver WASN'T a di at k, which is unusual in these parts for neu Audi
drivers. I haven't driven one, but will try to drive it soon. Any
thoughts??

Guys,
Correct me if I am wrong, but the RS2 manifolds do not hold up over time. I
participated in the RS2 Turbo GP and desire(when the wifey stops watching
the checking account ;-))to purchase a reliable long-term manifold solution.
What are my options?

Weeping head gasket? Check your cross-over tube for oil collection to
see how your turbo seals are doing. i.e. clean it out and then check
again later.

I'll second Richard's question. Fortunately (for me anyway) I do not have a
second set of eyes watching my checking account. I too started slipping and
got in on the Turbo GP. Please somebody help out here before I come to my
senses and decide the slope is far too slippery.
As far as options go, and as I understand the "benefit" of RS2 manifold it
had something to do with burning exhaust valves. In my personal case I just
want the extra oomph. MTM 1+ has become rather mundane. I have no
intentions of tracking and/or driving my car real hard for extended periods
- just the occasional YEEHAW. Under these circumstances would the stock
manifold suffice or disaster waiting to happen or...?
Regards,
Mark
