[s-cars] Why do an RS2 cam?

For those who don't know I will let you know why you need an RS2 cam.

EGT's boy's. Without freeing up the exhaust you will run higher egt's
and have to run more advance, oops now my car is pinging. That's right,
you are bound between pinging and high egt's when it comes to ignition
timing. I had this same problem and it was somewhat alleviated by a
free flowing exhaust, but I am waiting for the cams to make up the rest
of the difference. As it is now I cannot really run that much advance
in my motor, I also run a bit rich and have had to work with Mihnea
while doing data logging of lot's of stuff to be able to get something
that didn't ping with stock exhaust and stock cams. If I had RS2 cams I
wouldn't have had to knock down my boost pressure on the street to get
there.

So many tuners chips for lower octane fuel have less advance, this was
to help with lower octane fuel, but what happened is that egt's start to
really rise if you don't change the cams and or the exhaust or both.
Now comes reformulated gas and it gets worse, because now even the less
advance hasn't helped with pinging, so your car ping's, really high
egt's, as well as being destructive and your adaptive control cut's back
on the advance, now egt's get worse. It is possible that even the ecu
cannot adapt far enough to get rid of the pinging but you will still
have the egt problem. How do I know, because until I started to really
look into this I had this issue. Compound this with higher compression
ratio, read more pinging prone, and you have a motor that will simply
not last.

So RS2 cams, mean's lower egt's, less likely to ping, means more freedom
to have optimum timing, fueling and ultimately more HP.

So when people say there cars are running fine, I suspect that it is
because they really haven't looked at what is going on.

If I were 100% convinced that adding the cam to the rest of my RS2
goodies would make that much improvement I'd be in line for one right
now. However, I'm not that convinced. My car is running fantastically
without it at the moment. $200 is a good price, though.

Hmm, so what are they going to do with the turbo's?

Just so everyone knows, I am not making money off of this, this guy is a
buddy of mine and I am just trying to get him some work. I really
thought that this was a good opportunity for anyone who wanted an RS2
cam. Imagine a quality product for your Audi at a descent price.

I am really surprised that no one on the RS2 group buy wants and RS2 cam
for less than $200?

Tim asked me today to contact the list with the following information
[in my words] about the group RS2 turbo buy from Northern European
Automotive.

Turbos are being manufactured as rapidly as practicable. Due to the
time it will take to manufacture the entire order, Tim has had the first
part of the manufacturing run shipped to the USA before the the full
order is completed. This batch is presently in New Jersey, and is due
to arrive in NH next week. Those of you who's turbo impatience has been
most manifest will likely be contacted when they arrive. I didn't ask
about the second batch, but they should arrive in the fullness of time.

:)
