With my car I couldn't lower it to much because I would bottom out the
suspension, top of the strut to the spring perch. I used a smaller
front shock and then cut the strut itself down 1 inch. Now I have
another inch of travel before the shock bottoms between the top of the
strut and the spring perch. All this so that you can still lightly
spring the front suspension to get it to work, have the appropriate
amount of travel and the right length spring so that you don't coil
bind. I am using a 10" 400lb spring.

I must be missing something. How do shorter front struts increase
suspension travel?
