Yup a couple listers have that problem.  What is involved is removing
the transmission and replacing the bearing.  The bearing itself is not
very expensive.  I would suggest rev matching until your clutch wears
out and the tranny needs to come out anyway, or you get the urge to put
in a 6-speed.

I have a whine coming from my drive line only upon down shifting/engine 
braking and not all the time.  The harder I engine brake the more likely
the sound will occur and the louder it will be.  It has been suggested 
that this can be a bad throw-out bearing.  What is involved in repairing
a throw-out bearing?
