Well I finally found my boost leak!
I built my boost tester and after fixing my intake hose leaks I finally
found my boost leak. Turns out that my Samco hose that hooks to the
Turbo outlet was never tightened over finger tight! Yup that's right, I
paid too much attention to the other trouble hoses and never put a
wrench on this clamp! Now I only found all my leaks because I did a
boost leak test using the inlet hose of the turbo instead of the
outlet.
I found and fixed the following:
Inlet hose cracked and leaking, replaced with used hose from Elijah's
car. After replacing this hose I mmediately had a better idle.
Valve cover breather hose on back of valve cover had a hole in it.
Replaced this hose with one I found at auto zone and I now had a smooth
idle.
Tightened the clamp on my samco hose at the outlet of the turbo. Idle
went up a bit, rock solid idle, now have a smooth transition from 1st
to 2nd, more power and the noise I complained about is gone!
My advice, if you haven't checked your hoses for leaks do so now!
Chris
getting ready to go RS2!
This slope looks slippery, where's my sled? WHEEE!
