Dave replies:
I can appreciate your perspective. Until Cody gets his car back on the
dyno,
we're left guessing. My engine (325/401 on same dyno) was also in poor
shape. How bad either engine was, and what that did to our numbers is
pure
speculation... as Cody hasn't been back to the dyno, and mine won't be
reassembled to
the same spec.

Gary re-replies:
Can you show me your graph from that run? I was wondering about the
upper RPM range vs. Cody's. I was very impressed with your RS2 numbers.
ScottJ (QSHIPQ) may have been right when he said that the RS2 turbine
was PERFECT for our cars in RS2 trim. My turbo is slightly different
from Cody's in that we had a car with a "Funny" turbo in it. It was a
1993 AZ car with an RS2 EM and a stock K24 turbine attached to an RS2
COMP compressor housing! It looked factory. Test car? The compressor
housing looks exactly like a K26 (same A/R), but it has the larger
K24/RS2 intake, and is slightly different around the area where the
compressor sits.

Dave replies:
AFA installation goes... I'm not too concerned about the water/oil line
issue. It is so simple to deal with, that I consider it a non-issue.
And if you
aren't stuck on using SS lines, it is very affordable.

Gary re-replies:
Understand on the installation, I was thinking of cost and ease for our
first time RS2er's. On my next turbo (50 trim/KKK #8 on SQEM or Tube EM
with GT30R) I might have to change some lines, so I expect to do this in
the future myself.

Dave replies:
I hear what you're saying, and I don't feel slammed. I've just decided
to
head down the Garrett path. Certainly on my own cars, I've elected to
go "full"
Garrett by having my headers built with T3 flanges. I believe it gives
me
more options than I can have with KKK. I can drive 20 minutes, and be
at a shop
fully equipped to build any (Garrett) turbo I want to try. There's
something
to be said for that.

Gary re-replies:
I think the Garrett's make sense, as much (or more depending on the
case) as I think the KKK stuff does, so I certainly understand your view
here. Not/never slamming Garrett, just thinking that there may be a
cheap and easy KKK solution to the RS2/stock FMIC first timers. No
financial affiliation here either, just researching and sharing!!

Dave replies:
I appreciate your info as well. There are so many possibilities for
these
engines, and apparently very little documentation available regarding
mods. So
I'm left with questions like:
1) Is a Stromung or other aftermarket exhaust really an upgrade? (and I

don't want a simple "yes"... I want DATA! Who did a before and after
dyno runs,
with NO other changes?)
2) Same for RS2 Exhaust cam... or 7A cam(s)... any REAL data?
3) Before and after results for a tweaked cylinder head...? No other
changes?

Gary re-replies:
I have no idea if the Stromung is a HP upgrade, but it does lower the
rpm boost range a little, so I'd think it would be of interest to the CO
crowd?

I'm beginning to wonder if the 7A isn't responsible for all the burnt
and/or leaky valves I've been seeing lately.

I also wonder about the cylinder head port/polish. On 60's and 70's
vintage cars the casting process was a nightmare. 50 to 100 hp in a set
of V8 heads. Fast forward to 1992, and much of the low hanging fruit
was plucked at the factory from superior casting processes and wanting
to get max HP from a small engine. How much fruit is left hanging for
that $1,000 p/p? Not sure here. Love to see some hard data, as opposed
to the anecdotal evidence we see flying around the forums and lists.

Thanks for the dialogue Dave. I'll keep reporting in as I go...
