[s-cars] S6/2.2T fuel line question - help needed

i just came back from len stoler audi and i'm still in shock
over the price they quoted me for the fuel supply line - and
i've owned E30 M3s, E36 M3s, E28 M5s, 7 series, 911 RS America
and a 928. i didn't think i could be shocked by dealer prices
after owning a 928. <g> they quoted $507!

so, here's the next question - what have people on this list
done when this part failed on them. i'm thinking 'used', but
it would be a shame to buy the part and have that part go out
on me in short order. that's why i usually by a part like this
new from the dealer. the other option is to have a new line
fabricated using steel braided hose or similar material.

any help would be much appreciated. i just bought the car and
i'm still trying to get it through maryland state inspection
(and they only give you 15 days to get a vehicle through here).
