Hi all,
I have posted a few lists to get as many opinions as possible on this. As
you may remember after I totaled my S4 I bought a 1991 Audi coupe. The car is
in Canada and at the time I could find no reason why it would be a problem to
import it so since toronto has some very good shops for custom work I just
left it there to be worked on and planned to import it when it was finished.
Well its almost done and now I find out that the car never came with an airbag
and this is required to import it into the US. I have talked to several
people about getting one put in the car but it would cost way to much and would
not guarantee anything. So, my question is, has anyone imported a car from
canada as a offroad vehicle? If so what is required to do it this way? Also,
isn't when the car becomes 15 years old none of this applies? If so is this 15
years from the build date of the car? Any help is VERY much appreciated. If I
can not get this car in the country is there anyone from Canada interested in
buying it? Heres a list of what I've done.
My engine from my s4 with
Pauder Rods
new rings, and rod bearings one year ago
ported and polished head
RS2 EM (also have custom tubular header not installed yet)
K27/26#6 hybrid turbo
RS2 fuel injectors
7A exhaust cam
Stebro cat back exhaust (I planned to have a new 3" exhaust built when I
installed the tubular header)
RS2 FMIC
Dahlback Racing intake manifold
DSY 6 speed tranny
Five lug hub conversion
Big Blacks with 993 323 rotors and aluminum hats
centerforce clutch
11lb aluminum flywheel
koni adjustible shocks
H&R springs
aluminum sub frame mounts
S2 gauges
RS2 front bumper
RS2 headlights
B4 hood
The car is pearl white on black leather. There are a few dents and dings in
the body but nothing to bad. I had planned to paint the whole car a different
color and have any body work done at that time. I bought this car from a guy
on Jimmys web page and there are still a few old pics there from when he was
first starting the install. He spun a rod bearing and thats why I bought the
car and replace the engine. Here is a link to the pics on Jimmy's site.
