1 Does the Temp gauge come up during idle or stop/go traffic, then back down
to zero while on highway, if so, then its the T-stat.
2 There is a very inexpensive oil pressure sender (this thing dates back to
the VW rabbit, it was a known failure item then) that may be the cause. I
don't know its location on the Audi, but on the VW it was at the back of the
head.
3 Mine worked intermittently (95 avant) until my mechanic replaced one of
the front ABS sensors.
