brian et al,

i noticed my water temps staying very low today (around the 2nd thin
mark), until i stopped at a red light (about 8 miles from the house),
at which point it rose to roughly to the first thick mark, iirc. what
you mentioned below about oil temps is what has me thinking, though.
my oil temp gauge never moves from the far left of the gauge. i
noticed this upon buying the car and was told that they all read
low and it's normal. 2 questions - where 'should' my oil gauge 'read'
and could i have a similar thermostat problem? tia.

Ah, ya knowst winter hath cometh upon us when all the posts suddenly read
"stupid POS Audi temps are all f'd up" (er, something like that at least).
Gotta love it.

And we here feel bad for YOU Rich. Most here have / are / will / will
always BTDT. And yet we live with these things regardless somehow... says
a lot about these f'n Bitchgoddess cars IMO. Those with weak stomachs /
psyches need not apply, only the devout (stupid) continue. Masochism at its
finest...

-Paul fix one thing break 3 K.

ps. gauge should read at 1st thick has from the left, as corresponds to
Channel 51 (in your climate control display, search 12v.org) at hopefully
90C or so. Meguess you tstat is shot, if not mulitmalfactioning temp sens.
Don't forget to remove trans first...
