So, suspens is over: blown head gasket.
I decided to took the S6 to the DIY garage to replace the Tstat. I's only a
10 min drive and, starting at -19C, I thought I would be able to get there
before it start overheating. Keeping a close eye on channel 51, after 5 min,
I reached 100C, so I decided to stop. Boiling brown coolant and white
deposit on the oil cap. No doubt anymore.
I found a mechanic really close to my home who is specialized in Volks,
Audi, BMW, MB, Porsche, Jaguar and Land-Rover. This guy seems to love
special cars. Good starting point. The phone conversation was encouraging,
the guy seems to know what he's talking about, but it's my beloved S6 and
I've always been suspiscious when someone else touch my car. What should I
check? What should I ask? And what are the reasonnable "While I'm at it"?
Vincent

Mark suggested:
<<<My best guess would be to get that thermostat out ASAP. Don't wait as you
risk trashing your head, the aluminum one, not the French Canadian one.>>>
No worries there Mark... his evillyaddictive vodka concoctions did that
years and years ago I'm afraid...
-Paul beware Vincent's flask K.
ps. wrt the subject line Vincent, I'm glad to hear your overheating is
restricted to you locally up there, don't need any of that down here...
