[s-cars] A6 opinions plz

Sr. Baloney,

My wife drove a 95 A6 Avant quattro and loved it. Why? It was big, slow,
rode great and had black cloth interior. The more we drove the car, the
better it ran. We bought it in 98 with 50k on the clock. Sold it two years
ago with 140k on the clock. The only non-maintenance item we had to fix was
the rear dif seal, but some might argue that this is a maintenance item, and
if the car you're looking at is FWD, no worries. The one think these 12v
V6's are famous for is oil leaking from the head gasket. Although, thorough
floggings of the car en route to the local transfer station with my boys on
Sat mornings probably saved me from contracting this problem.

Otherwise, same issues as urS cars-lights suck, brakes are barely adequate,
etc, etc. If some jackass hadn't decided to pull a U-Turn in front of us
without signaling, we'd still be driving it today.

HTH,
Jim

Subject: [s-cars] A6 opinions plz

Folks
I am considering a 96 A6 to replace der durn daughters late great 93 Legend
(totalled.) This car has 128K and spent its first four years in FL. It's fwd
only (I think) and appears from pics to look excellent ( though showing the
usual stock jacked up look,) but I have heard the 2.8 autobox is uhmmm
slowww, which could be good for her? I could steal parts off it;)
Whaddya men think?
Thanks much ... in advance.
Cheer's
Bill m
