Stephan,
IME you have a blown coil, not pos. In fact I would bet on it. Classic symptom and exact same result of what happened to me about 6 mos ago.
I was fortunate enought to have Uncle "Steamboat" Bob and Paul Gailus be of huge help:)
One of your coils is shorted to ground and thus your S car has now achived the Pederhausen Performance Level (PPL)tm, i.e. as in "not running."
You need to get a half dozen 15 amp fuses and then while removing (unscrewing and holding each coil away from touching any metal,) each coil turn on the ignition. If the fuse blows, that is NOT the blown coil. Do one cylinder at a time. When the fuse does not blow; the uninstalled coil is le problem.
Voila'

ps this can be remedied by fusing each cylinder individually... and thats another project I havent gotten to.
I was driving out of my development when the car began to stumble, stall, and die. I just about rolled it accross the street and began the AAA routine.
Had it towed home, and VAG won't communicate with ECU. Pulled carpet and found the 15 amp fuse in the yellow socket by the ECU is blown. I think this means POS is done, fried, kaputt. Bentleys already packet up becuase of impending move. How do you test these things when the car won't start.
TIA
Stefan
