[s-cars] FMIC Alternatives

Iwas looking at a Turbonetics catalogue the other day and noted that
Spearco has a number of intercooler "kits", i.e. Air to Air intercooler
cores and different end tank designs. So I was thinking, if a person is
not going into the stratosphere (so to speak) with horsepower but was in
the 320ish range (mild RS2), then couldn't a smaller (height, width)
intercooler that doesn't require cutting of the bumper be sized and
fabricated (from off-the-shelf parts)?

I think the Mike Pedersen (sp) FMIC design is great and has evolved
nicely. However, in some ways, it is too large , too custom and too
expensive (US$2000!) for most "normal" applications. A FMIC that could
be bolted on to the car with out having to modify the car would be much
better for many of us. Any thoughts (Hap, Mike, Scott J.??)
