Dave,
Good point. The reason these IC's are so expensive is
because a ton of engineering went into them to make
them "plug and play". You can buy a Spearco kit but
you're going to spend hours and $$$ making it fit. The
Spearco unit is a Fin and Tube design not Bar and
Plate. That said, yes it's possible to use a smaller
core but you are still going to have to figure out how
to mount it, mount it, fabricate the tubes, etc, etc.
