Thanks to those who responded:  Alvin, Bill M, Sean and Fred.  General
concensus was to hook up the ebrake cable. Also, to forget the MitiVac -
I agree about sucking air from around the edges of the bleed screw.  I
don't have a pressure bleeder so I will have to "borrow" my wife's foot.

The cranking the e-brake cam to set the pads came from my interpretation
of the Bentley.  I  now know that you CAN lock the pads to the caliper
because that's what I think I did this week, trying to see if the ebrake
cable was f*'d.
