You can get the knob off by simply pulling it, but that doesn't do you any
good. You have to take the whole panel down by pulling downward on the
front part of the panel. Be careful of the plastic clips in the very
back....pretty typical German stuff...works great and never meant to be
taken apart :) After this is off you can simply loosen the nut underneath
the dial that you pulled off (works just like the old shaft radios in cars)
and then unplug the 3 pin connector from the switch and the switch is now
free to come out. No the switch is not on the motor so to speak.

Is the dial holding the switch on the motor? I remember someone posting how
to get the switch and the dial off the panel, but I could not find it...
