[s-cars] Buick Grand National comparo

280 HP stock, very easily and cheaply modified, and big displacement so torquey too.

A 4.7 second car to 60 stock, many believe they were underrated from the factory for insurance purposes.

I know more than a few guys that with $6K or so in mods were turning LOW 11 second quarters, and these cars routinely go into the 10's with nitrous.

Now, they have hideous interiors and don't like to stop or turn, but there is something appealing about the "Darth Vader" mobiles.

Be careful. Be very careful.

I don't know if it's still active, but there was a GN list with a bunch
of 'enthusiasts' trying to Happersize their engine's performance. The GNs
had a turbo'd V6 that could be (and was) improved as much as our engines.

There used to be a web site www.gnttype.org - but it no longer has
anything. It belonged to the Grand National and T-Type Performance
Enthusiasts Organization.

If you got hooked up with one of their cars, I'd bet you'd need maybe
an RS6 to leave them in the dust (in a straight line). I think these
guys were turning high 12 second quarter miles.

I'd be interested in things other people have to add to this.
