[s-cars] S4 Won't Start

This leads me to say:  If you have never replaced your ignition switch;
do it now. It is $35 and it will save you much aggravation and possibly
save your starter. These things are destined to fail. My car was
working fine, but I examined my switch. What do you know? It was
cracked. I replaced it right away and don't expect another failure for
at least two weeks.  ;)

Karl bummed ~

".S4 won't start, but the battery is fine, the key turns in the
ignition, and I push-started it to get it home and that all went fine.
There is no noise at all from the starter, no click from the solenoid,

nothing.  ."

Karl,

IME this sounds like the guaranteed to fail eventually ignition switch,
unbeknownst to you, remained in the start position, thus causing the
starter to fail.

Solution is a new ignition switch ($35+/-) new /rebuilt starter ($135??)
and a couple hours repair time, okay maybe three first time thru.

There is a nice write up or two or three somewhere on this.. but I
forget where. Search again or I'm sure some smart soul can post a link.
