I wasn't happy with the stock lo-beam bulbs. I replaced mine about a year ago with PIAA Xtreme White bulbs - direct replacement - same wattage more lumens, probably more expensive than the GP. Significant difference. I'd post the pics but don't have them on a serever. Can e-mail them if you are interested.
I replaced my headlight lenses with Euro spec ones a couple of weeks ago and noticed no deformation of the replectors due to overheating.
