[s-cars] brake problems - need advice

Well the wife's 93 S4 is having brake trouble.

the symptom is that the pedal wil get spongy and start going to the
floor. But the weird part is that it isintermittent, she can drive it
and have no problems, intermittent problems, or act up the entire drive
home. And no brake lights come on.

Background info, two two seals between the master cylinder and the
hydraulic fluid bottle on top of it failed causing a severe leak. I
purchased two new seals, fished out the broken pieces of the old seals
and replaced. All was fine for two weeks and now this.

Could there be crap from the failed seals in the master cylinder..I am
thinking that would cause a hard pedal and no braking not a soft pedal
and loss of pressure? With that in mind I am currently thinking it's a
failing master cylinder.

Now on my 93 S4 (yes we own two) I believe my hydraulic bomb is
failing. It started witht he brake light staying on for 20 seconds or
so...and now if I start the car and leave too quickly I get a pulsing
in the brakes.

Thanks for all the input I know I'll get...I need to fix these cars
before I start to buy pieces for an RS2 conversion on mine.

Chris
