[s-cars] RE: RS2 impressions - yup

Paul,

I'm sure you are aware of it, but the car you drove was running 105 octane race gas at the time. I drove my car right after driving it, and there was definitely a difference. At some point, we will try to get a comparison between the full RS2 you drove and my RS2/racetronix/stock MAF/Mihnea concoction...but we need to have both cars running the same fuel at the same time. I am planning on running nothing but pump gas until after Mihnea tunes me. I want to make sure I am tuned to run straight pump gas.

BTW, that Stromung sure plays a nice tune!

Tom

Sean lucky bastard'ed:

<<<Its fast - very fast - scary fast, much more power than MTM 1+/K24,
especially at high rpm. The K24 runs out of steam at 5500 rpm, while the
RS2 pulls hard to the redline. The boost peaks at 26 psi and holds in
the 20-25 psi range right up to redline.

The power delivery is very smooth and not peaky like the MTM 1+/K24. Its
quite tractable in the low rpm and still has decent pull when running at
part throttle. The power is easier to modulate and the car almost feels
more docile (almost stock like) at part throttle. But when I mash the
throttle, and the boost hits 25 psi, it pulls hard - real hard....

...I urge anyone with the time and funds to do this, >>>

Well said Sean.

It's funny... I drove my bud's RS2'd 95.5 again Sat. night and was thinking
of posting something about my impressions of it compared to the 1+, but you
nailed it.

See, some may remember last year or so when I said something like "well,
it's fast, but it's kind of laggy... the 1+ has nicer low end, blah blah
blah". Now I've driven it again and realize those words might as well have
read "I reaaaaaaaaaaly like the RS2 power soooooo much better and I'll just
say I can live with 1+ as there's NO WAY I have the $$$ to RS2 my car for
like the next quadbillion years"...

Sad but true. Such is life...

Now I'll just say "I can live with my 1+ car as the gearing / flywheel /
other tuning bits / etc. make it very very very nice and it IS really fast
enough"...

...until I rob a bank. Which I may. Really my car is fast enough now, it
f'n really flies. Just ask Johnny Law this a.m.... the MAN continues to
keep me DOWN...

-Paul I may have a 6 spd etc. but still no RS2 sniff sniff oh well K.
