As previously mentioned - the only time when you REALLY NEED the EDL to
kick in is when you are trying to accelerate out of some crappy surfaces -
in this case you can just switch the ABS back on :) It's a "nice to have"
putting the power down exiting a tight corner, but not that big of a deal
(no different than a pre EDL car at speed where the locker isn't going to lock)
If you've installed a torsen rear, then you're really not missing much by
shutting off EDL - again unless you're stuck in the mud/snow/gook/stuff and
trying to get moving...
To me the real problem with shutting off the ABS in a EDL (4 channel) car
is that you're disabling the rear proportioning, which will lead to a
tail-happy rear end.. that's the biggest problem. (Especially if you've got
BR's in the back!)
If you really wanted to go there, someone would have to spend enough time
to figure out how to "fault" the system so the ABS goes off, while the
"Proportioning" (sometimes called Electronic Brake Distribution "EBD" or
Dynamic Rear Proportioning "DRP") stays on.
Whether that disables EDL too really isn't something to worry about at that
point.
Just IMHO of course :)
Cheers,
Keith
