Finally some numbers I can believe. With the RS2 turbo (or any 2.2 liter
turbo car that is 3900 lbs) you will find the lag is holding up your quarter mile
time but with your trap speed it appears that you are making quite a lot of
horsepower. This is not a drag car.
What you need at the same time is a device such as the AP-22 that can show
you the length of time it takes you to shift. I would assume Car & Driver guys
can shift in 0.25 seconds or less. If you shifts are longer you will be missing
out even more on your trap speeds and the quarter mile.
So the real question is how to make more torque off the line - I think with
the RS2 you will be playing catch up with a K24 for at least the first 400'
1) Stroke the engine!
2) Sequential turbo application! Even with the K24 this would be a good
application.
The first second is everything in a drag race and a reduction of 0.25 seconds
in lag time will make a large difference.
Best regards,
Feico van der Laan
