"Poor heat sink conduction from the back of the POS to the metal bracket may cause thermal shutdown problems when the POS gets warm/hot". http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/TROUBLE_SHOOTING/S4_Ignition.htm
Simply a great web site...

Subject: [s-cars] Re: Coil Packs and POS/PSO
I'll add my $.02 on PSO's while we're at it.
I'm supposing the reason PSO's fail is heat related as well. The design of
the part and its mounting arrangement suggests heat conduction/removal is
the main issue in the design. Is it Scott M's site that suggests remounting
with thermally conducting grease? I think this is a great idea. My PSO's
looked as if they might have been mounted that way to begin with but all
that's left was (thermally insulating) corrosion and a failed channel.
You can get the grease at any geeky computer store. I removed the corrosion
and bedded them in the stuff.
