[s-cars] Airbag MIL - VAG says 0588 - Airbag Igniter Resistance toolarge

What year? What model? Yadda yadda yadda........ You allude that the culprit
is the steering wheel airbag. I have found that by removal of the steering
wheel airbag and the disconnect from the spiral spring that causes, and
then reassembly "fixes it". As long as you're there check the continuity of
the spiral spring by disconnecting it at the column. It is the red connector
on the right. Don't break the clip which retains it to the column trim. Use
a small screwdriver to hold the clip in while you pull it out. I did this a
couple days ago on a '94 Cabrio and found that I had continuity everywhere
meaning the two wires were touching somewhere. Decided it needed a new
spiral spring but did not have one so I reassembled everything, reset the
code, and it did not come back. I don't know...........and this is not the
first time I have had this happen on different Audi's/models.
Best,
Tim Leonard
