I will second Dave's response to the noisy fuel pump. If you've been around
Audi's for a while, you'll notice that many of the fuel pumps buzz loudly.
Now on my sixth Audi, I can tell you that eventual fuel pump failure is
imminent. However, it seems that some noisy pumps can last for years, so
YMMV! On my S4, the old pump would only be noisy in the summer months.
Finally removed it only to find what I would describe as "saran wrap"
covering the suction inlet. At first thought, I wondered if it was the fuel
tank insides degrading. Luckily, no other debris could be found inside.
Hmmm.... no wonder it was loud, major lack of flow as it was being stressed?
New pump(~ $100) has been silent for two years now. I too would be proactive
and just replace it if it's noisy.
