[s-cars] Rods and high HP: Oil Issue??

I have to second Bill's comment, Ned Ritchie once said that he had
reached the limit of the stock rods but then I believe that he sorted a
few things out and chalked it up to detonation not weak rods.
I keep on seeing people claim that they reach the limit of the eagle
rods that eurospec sells and I just have to laugh, because I suspect
that if it was a lesser motor the crank pistons and con rods would be
under the car instead of in it. If you look at the eagle rods and
Carrillo's there is little difference in the amount of material and
where it is. The type of material is the same. The conditioning of it
is different but this only keeps things from fatigue failures, all of
the rod failures that I have heard of are catastrophic failures, and
when asked there is no polishing that has gone on. IMHO you want a
strong rod, but not one so strong as to damage the block, careful tuning
I suspect would reduce the incident of bending rods, but it is an easy
escape goat.

What causes a rod to bend I wonder~
I seem to recall, (or could be making up) hearing that a likely cause of
bent rods could be a misfire or miss detonation.
Is it not super heated pistons/rings that expand and lock up and cause
what may already be a well heated rod to bend?
Would it be too crazy to think that a properly tuned I-5 should be able
to handle 400hp without disaster?
I say yes.
My .0002
Bill m - thinking I should really install that AF meter stored
Rosatto Style (RS)tm on my shelf;)
