[s-cars] RE:6 disc CD Changer kaput

Sean,

I'll double check with one of the dealers  Monday. He actually said he had a new one, and it was cheaper than the remanufactured units he had in stock (huh?).

I tried another dealer, they quoted the higher price of 470USD as well as requiring the core exchange.  I visited a couple of local car stereo shops, one is still researching, the other had an Alpine unit (6disc) for 225USD but said I needed an adapter for another 75. I thought I read somewhere that the later 6 disc alpine units didn't need an adapter, but that the older 10 disc sony units did. Anyone one know if this is true, and/or maybe the new 6 disc need a different kind of adapter?

The 6-disc changer is a discontinued part and I'm surprised the dealer
quoted you on it. When I was looking for one last year, the dealers were
incorrectly using a superceding p/n that does not work. I ended up
getting a used one from a lister. Ebay may be your only source.
