[s-cars] Compartment under the steering wheel (part number?)

Not ALL euro cars had airbags, whereas all American models did. Euro
steering wheels ARE different. For example, this 1992 S4 wheel
(non-airbag) that I just picked up.

The original picture that was posted of the shelf was from an S6 and it
did appear to have an airbag, but I just wonder why the shelf
disappeared from the 80/90/CQ when the airbag appeared.

Could it be a North American safety issue thingy... ala bigger bumpers,
etc... It should be a direct fit because the Euro cars have air bags, at
least I think they do, and the Euro steering wheels are no different
that North American versions.

This looks plug and play to me... and it looks damn useful to boot !

/J.

I know this shelf was removed from 80's, 90's and CQ's when they
introduced the airbag in to the model. It could be a coincidence or
there could be a reason that the shelf needed to come out when the
airbag went in. Having removed the panel on my S4 I can't see why the
shelf wouldn't fit, but maybe investigate a little further. I
personally love having the shelf in my 90. It's the perfect place for a
double high CD wallet and an electric razor. ;)

Ok, ok... I'll look into a GP, but let's check out what the costs are
1st, I'll try a couple of sources.

Cheers, /James.
