[s-cars] Sony CD Changer Trivia

S-gruppees: I know at this point this information is not very
important. Nevertheless I thought that I would share a "discovery":

Having only (finally) acquired an OEM CD changer for my 93 carbon
fibre, I was a bit annoyed to find that when I turned the head unit off
while a CD was playing, when it was turned back on it went back to the
beginning of the track. This is fine if you like that song but
otherwise you have to skip (fast forward to the next track) and miss the
last part of the track in question. I played with the changer on the
way home last night and discovered that if you press the Mode button
(putting the head unit back to RADIO) before turning the head unit off,
when you turn the head unit back on and then hit MODE, the CD changer
returns (after a pause) to the same position in the track that was
playing before MODE was hit the first time. Nothing earth shattering
like a way to a free 10 hp but interesting (well, okay, maybe only to me
but...)

I just checked the CD changer manual (a jpg copy that I was sent). On
page 4 under "Mode Button" is says "If you press the Mode button while
the CD is playing, the unit will switch back to the radio. If you press
the button twice, the CD will begin playing at the point where it had
been stopped". So I presume that my "discovery" is making use of this
built-in track-position memory feature.

Sorry for the trivia. Please return to previous discussions.
