Yup, this is a bit of an annoying trait. I have a Dave Brubeck CD that has
a 16 minute version of Take Five on it. Since I mostly take short trips,
and I like the song, and I'm too lazy to hit the skip button, that song can
sometimes be playing for weeks in my car until I finally have the
opportunity to drive the car for more than 16 minutes at a stretch.

If you shut off in the radio mode after switching from CD, it will retain
the position of the CD for a short period of time, a minute or two at best.
But after that it will revert to the beginning of the track. Switching
between modes while the radio is on will always retain the position of the
track, it's only after you shut down the radio that it goes to the beginning
of the track. I haven't played around with switching back and forth between
modes multiple times after turning it back on though, so I'll have to try it
out.
