[s-cars] OmniRemote and UrS4 IR keys

S-car fans:

Anyone ever used a program for the Palm platform called "OmniRemote"? As
the name suggests, this is a utility that allows you to emulate most IR
remotes with the Palm's built-in IR port. It's a "learning" utility,
meaning that you teach it the pattern for a given remote button by using
your existing remote. The program then mimics the signal it "saw."

I've been trying to program this utility to emulate the signal from my UrS4
key. So far, I've been able to get it to work exactly ONCE. In other words,
I've been able to get the program to unlock the doors ONE time and since
then it hasn't worked at all.

My theory is that there is some sort of rolling-code or other security
system in the key--something that would keep a learning remote from working
more than one time.

Some readers are doubtless wondering "why the hell is he trying to do
this?" To that I respond that there are two reasons, of equal value:
First, how cool and/or geeky is it to lock and unlock your car with a Palm?
Second, this could provide a valuable way to unlock my car were I ever to
contrive some means of locking my keys in it. Of course the Germans make
this very difficult, but not impossible...

If anyone has a guess why this isn't working I'd love to hear it.

Marc
