It is a rolling code.  There is little information available, but the
hints from the warnings in the owners manual tell you that the code
transmitted has a rolling part that advances each time you press the
button on the remote.

The owners manual warns you that if you press the button on the remote
key too many times while you are away from the car that the car might
not recognize the remote key the next time you try to use it on the car.

In that case, you can re-sync car and key by going through a simple
re-sync process.  A different process than that which is
needed to add a new remote key in the first place.
