As I recall, my friend's Ford Pick-up Tow Vehicle with the
galvanized paint adhesion recall was an '88. So, I wouldn't
be surprised that galvanizing was starting already at Ford
in '86. And, for the record, my '85 GTi was only partially
galvanized back then. Never rusted, only the fallen tree
took it out.
