Way back I had given my mechanice the bilstein eibach spacers for the rear.. puts em in... uh way to high:/  Take 'em out.
Perfect.  Thats only half a reinstall.
Clutches, I've done three and may do another though I am in wait and see mode since yesterday I changed the coolant flange and Oring, back of the engine.  Theory now is that just enough coolant steam would come out to lose a pint every 4/5 days AND being directly over the bell housing was also creating clutch slippage.  ?? Maybe.  Did a coupla clutch burns with ebrake on, made some nice smoke and now we'll see.
Then whilst on a mall run late yesterday, the driver side rear door will not latch.. Close the door and no latching.
F me I sez, F me, Fme (learned it from the Brit in the Spitfire documentary;)  That was funny though!
Didja know that you can sort of loop the seatbelt through the door handle and sort of hold the door shut whilst you drive home?
Only 3 folks told me my door was open:/  Always carry duct tape!
So todays impromptu project became fixxing the rear door latch:(
Now theres some audi oragami, taking the door apart to get the latch out.  Not for the faint of heart.  Finally freed it up after 5 gallons of pentrating oil spray. Actually thought for a while that I was gonna need a new one.
If your latches are sticking don't wait till they move no more cuz then there will be no movement to get things loosened and working again.  Signs of this are the handles not operating smoothly and if when you try to close the door once in a while, it does not latch first time and pops back open.  I'd recommend spraying liquid wrench into the childproof lock holes in the rear and downwards into the latches both on the front and rear doors, then open and shut until it feels normal again.  Can't hurt anything in there and I'm sure that the liquid wrench smell will dissapate within a week.  Im open to a better suggestion for a spray lubricant/s.  There are torsion (not to be confused with torsen;) springs inside the latch mechanisms, just below the latch itself, that get corroded.
Anyway no parts were left over and I only had to remove the door trim one extra time as I had forgetten to plug the window connector back in.
So, while everyones modding away out there, remember to set aside some extra time, dough and valiums for the other things that break whilst you head north of 300.
Cheer's
Bill m  - back door working, but car is not any faster.
