german transaxle ...beware...Re: [s-cars] Tranny rebuild?

this is a totally true story... no exaggeration.   I dove the car for a year
with a screwed up first gear (the stick with throw back at my hand when i
let up the clutch).
when it was finally sorted out, apparently the story was that German
Transaxle intentionally left out the spacer on first gear because of
arguments with the shop in San Francisco.   The shop in san Francisco gave
me back the car at no cost....with a fukd up transmission.

another shop took it all apart 1 year later, kept the car for 10 weeks and
made it right again.   they are the ones who got the real story from german
transaxle.
