There is a well-documented problem with the V94 Central Locking module
which drains the battery and caues other erratic behavior. Check out

There's a yellow wire you can cut on the module which will disable the
automatic sunroof closing feature and seems to cure the current drain
problem and the sunroof going bezerk. Worked for me!
Had a similar problem once with a '92 Passat, turns out the doors needed
to be completely shut when parked for an extended time or the central
alarm would draw too much current and drain the battery.
