[s-cars] Reducing 'Negative Boost' Anyone?

Does the air take have to be "ram air" as in using a snorkel facing forward? Or could the airbox just ahve a bigger hole in it, a la cone filters - that is drawing air in from within engine compartment - assuming isolation to heated air from rest of engine compartment can be achieved. Or how about a hose, of large diameter, facing towards back of car extracting air form somewhere near the axles?

Basically, as it is the engine that is sucking, can the air come from anywhere, as long as it is not heated by engine/turbo etc.
