I've had good luck with the Dunlop Graspic DS2 tires.  They are available 
through the Tire Rack for $90 each.  They are very good in snow and ice, but 
aren't exactly great handling tires.  I guess it depends on the nature of your 
driving conditions.  For me, I have to use tires that are exceptional snow and 
ice tires, or I'm unable to even get home (steep dirt road), so the DS2 is a 
great choice for me.

BTW, mounting and balancing is free at my house for CO listers willing to 
make the trip to Evergreen.
