JF:  Based on the way you described the event, I would say fuel pump.
If its not that, then Cam Position Sensor would be the next guess.  The
dealer (or your mechanic) can pull the codes to check for the problem.
The CPS will show up but the fuel pump will not.  The fuel pump can be
tested by supplying power to it from the + post on the passenger side
cowl area and jumping it to the right hand slot of Fuse No. 17 (pull the
fuse).  You need to break open the fuel line at the drivers side and run
a hose into a bucket outside the engine bay.  15 seconds of running (if
it indeed runs) should get you about 670 cc of fuel.
