[s-cars] US Import - Speedo Specifics?

I just moved to the US from Canada and need to import my car. I haven't got 
my letter from Audi yet, but I understand I only need to swap the metric 
only speedo. Anyone know if I'm required to have Audi perform this or if I 
can do it myself? Am I required to use a new speedo or can I register a used 
one that was pulled from a wreck?
